A. A. Milne Books: enchanting tales of friendship, and the poems that came first.

“Sometimes," said Pooh, "the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

— A. A. Milne

Novelist and poet, A. A. Milne is best remembered for the loveable bear, Winnie-the-Pooh, and the enchanted world of the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh's friends, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga and Tigger, look out for one another in stories that are as much about loyalty and love as they are about adventure. Milne based the animals on real toys belonging to his son, Christopher Robin, now on display at the New York Public Library. Nearly a century on, the stories are still read as bedtime favourites.

Milne wrote poetry for children before Pooh ever appeared. "When We Were Very Young" came out in 1924, two years before Winnie-the-Pooh himself. Our collection brings both together, storybooks and poetry, often in editions with E. H. Shepard's original illustrations.

Each book is inspected individually before it goes up for sale, its condition described honestly, whether it's a well-loved reading copy or something closer to pristine.
