Collecting Scottish Books

“Breathes there the man, with soul so dead, who never to himself hath said, this is my own, my native land!”

— Sir Walter Scott, The Lay of the Last Minstrel

Scottish books are where JWB Books began. Long before we branched into other subjects, this was the collection we built first, and it's grown into our largest and most specialised collection.

The range reflects that: national and local history, clan and family records, Highland and island life, Gaelic language texts, genealogy and statistical accounts, hillwalking and geography guides, and Scottish literature and poetry from across the centuries. Our Scottish History Books, Robert Burns Books and Sir Walter Scott Books collections go deeper on those subjects individually.

Every book is inspected and photographed individually, and condition is described honestly rather than glossed over. New Scottish stock comes in all the time, so it's always worth checking back.
